What Our Customers Say
"I have used Lilliput electrical for about 11 years. Tim wired my kitchen extension, and put in a consumer unit when I moved into my home. More recently he has carried out a number of smaller jobs including moving a socket and advising about and fitting lighting. He is always courteous and very helpful. This firm is very trustworthy and the work is tidily completed. I have no hesitation in recommending them as genuinely no job is too big or too small."
Google Review
"Five stars without hesitation. Tim and the Lilliput Electrical team have supported us on a full renovation rewire, EV charger installation and various smaller jobs over the years. Their communication is clear, pricing is transparent and accurate, and the quality of work is consistently excellent. They're professional, reliable and leave the place immaculate every time. An easy recommendation — I wouldn't go anywhere else."

Full Rewire — Victorian Terrace, Bournemouth
Complete rewire of a 3-bedroom Victorian terrace that still had original 1930s wiring. We replaced all cables, installed a new 18-way Hager consumer unit, added LED downlights throughout, and fitted USB sockets in all bedrooms. The homeowners stayed in the property throughout as we worked room by room.
Consumer Unit Upgrade — Sandbanks
Replaced an outdated wire fuse box in a 4-bedroom Sandbanks property. The old unit had no RCD protection and was regularly tripping. The new Hager consumer unit includes dual RCD protection, MCBs for every circuit, and an integrated surge protector. All circuits tested and certified same day.
Frequently Asked Questions
A typical 3-bedroom house takes 4–5 days. We work room by room to minimise disruption, and the price includes making good to plasterwork. Larger or older properties may take longer — we’ll give you a clear timeline during the quote.
No. We work room by room and ensure you have power each evening. Most customers stay at home throughout. We’ll discuss the plan with you beforehand so you know what to expect each day.
A consumer unit (fuse box) upgrade replaces your old fuse box with a modern unit featuring RCD protection. RCDs detect faults and cut the power in milliseconds, protecting you from electric shock. If your home still has rewirable fuses or an old-style unit without RCD protection, an upgrade is strongly recommended.
Yes. Lilliput Electrical is NICEIC registered, which means we are authorised to self-certify all domestic electrical work under Part P of the Building Regulations. You’ll receive all necessary certificates for every job.
Absolutely. All work comes with the appropriate electrical certificate — either an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for new work, or a Minor Works Certificate for smaller jobs. These are legal requirements and are provided as standard with every job we complete.
A circuit breaker that keeps tripping usually indicates an overloaded circuit, a faulty appliance, or a wiring fault. As a first step, unplug appliances on the affected circuit and reset the breaker. If it trips again with nothing plugged in, there may be a wiring fault that needs professional diagnosis. Call us on 07809 680068 — we offer same-day fault finding from £85 and will identify and fix the problem safely.
Yes. We provide same-day emergency electrician callouts across Poole, Bournemouth, and East Dorset. If you have a dangerous electrical situation — burning smell, sparking, loss of power, or exposed wiring — call 07809 680068 and we’ll aim to be with you as quickly as possible.
A full rewire for a 2-bedroom house starts from around £3,500, while a typical 3-bed costs from £5,500. The price depends on the size of the property, number of circuits, and the condition of the existing installation. We provide a detailed written quote after a free survey.
A standard 3-bedroom house typically takes 5–7 days for a full rewire. We work room by room so you can stay in the property throughout. Larger or older properties may take longer — we’ll give you a clear timeline during the quote stage.
Most customers stay at home during a rewire. We work room by room and make sure you have power, lighting, and hot water each evening. The work is dusty and disruptive, but we clean up daily and protect your floors and furniture.
A full rewire replaces all cables, the consumer unit, and every socket and switch. A partial rewire targets specific areas — for example, upstairs only, or a single floor. We’ll recommend the right approach after inspecting your installation and reviewing any existing EICR findings.
Common signs include: rubber or lead-sheathed cables, a fuse box with rewirable fuses, round pin sockets, frequent tripping, burning smells, or an EICR with C1/C2 codes. If your wiring is over 30 years old, book an EICR (from £120) to assess its condition. We provide honest advice — we’ll only recommend a rewire if it’s genuinely needed.
